THIS WEEK PROCLAIMED NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK!

A proclamation was made recently by President Obama, part of which appears below (the full proclamation can be found at https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2016/04/08/presidential-proclamation-national-volunteer-week-2016):

“Each day, humble people of every background and belief come together to fulfill the timeless responsibility we have as Americans: to accept certain obligations to one another. People of all ages can volunteer, and anyone can, through the smallest of acts, do their part to improve the lives of others. This week, we celebrate the selfless individuals around our country who channel their civic virtues through volunteerism, and we encourage more people to make service an integral part of their lives.”

At St John Kanty Parish Community we are truly blessed by the efforts of our volunteers, those who are behind the scenes who make our visit to church, whether weekly at Mass or to any one of our social/spiritual/fundraising functions, more pleasant, more meaningful and more enjoyable. Too often these efforts are taken for granted. A recent case in point is our very beautiful church during our Easter celebrations, seen by close to 2,000 people during the week. This did not come together without a lot of thought and labor from our dedicated volunteers, and we thank all of you  for your efforts, no matter how great or small!

At St John Kanty we can always use more volunteers…to serve as ushers, readers, Eucharistic ministers, as  members of the choir, to improve the grounds, to serve in the kitchen, on various committees, and so much more: our needs are great and we have many opportunities! If you have ever thought about helping…now is the time to step forward: the rewards are many, not only personally but in this case, to your church community as well. Leave your name as well as how you would like to volunteer with Deacon Rick or the Parish secretary, Barbara.
